Okay, a date night outfit and a family dinner outfit might sound like two very different looks. But, these black linen pants are that versatile, and I love how this tube top can also be styled in different ways. If you want to wear this outfit for date night, just leave behind the button up! Or, keep it as a practical layer for a family dinner. This crisp white button up is really soft and lightweight, which makes it the definition of a summer layer.
Classic Black Linen Pants Work Outfit
This entire outfit consists of wardrobe staples. Let’s start with my black linen pants. I bought these from Abercrombie, but they’re old. So, I found a very similar pair from Quince. As a side note, sometimes I think it’s funny that I still occasionally pick up pieces from Abercrombie because I used to wear Abercrombie in high school, and I even worked there for a little bit in college. Anyway, I’m impressed with their linen pieces.
My button up is my favorite oversized white button up because it’s made of a thick cotton. It is truly oversized, so be sure to size down one size. It’s also not a super crisp white, which I love. I’m wearing my every day jewelry here and a pair of slingback shoes (I linked a pair I love). Slingbacks are such an easy option, especially if you can’t always have your feet perfectly pedicured! But, you can dress this look up with low heeled sandals or dress it down with casual espadrilles. Okay, last but not least, this belt definitely helps make the outfit. The belt was gifted to me by Sezane. It’s gorgeous in person – the perfect combination of brown and black – and so well made.
Elevated, Casual Outfit With Slingbacks
This is another outfit that is easy to recreate. This is a great option for a super hot day because everything is super breathable – it’s all linen! I’m wearing a simple linen t-shirt. I dressed this outfit up a little bit by wearing woven leather slingbacks because I wanted covered shoes for my feet while walking around the city, but it would be just as cute with sandals.
Black Linen Pants For Travel
These black linen pants are perfect for travel, and I’m telling you this because I own them in a different color! I wore these pants for an entire day trip to Nantucket, including travel by car and boat, and they were so comfortable. I included a photo below because I always think it’s helpful to see an outfit on someone! So, it’s the same pants but in a different color option. Honestly, the elastic waistband is kind of a give away that they’re comfortable. But, don’t let that trick you into thinking they aren’t super chic and versatile!
I love a matching set, and there are a few options that match these pants. The long sleeve linen top would be perfect for flying. You’ll have long sleeves in case you get cold in the car or on the plane, but linen is super breathable in case it’s warm! Sometimes I like to wear a tank top under a button up like this when I travel in case it’s really warm at my destination. You can just tie your linen top around your waist or put it in your carry on.

I styled them with the matching linen vest top because this top adds a tailored, polished feel to your outfit. And that is what makes it perfect for work! I love slingbacks and flats for work. Okay, the last matching top option for these pants is also linen but it has short sleeves. You can dress this look up or down depending on the shoes you choose!
