My jean shorts are both cool and practical – my favorite combination. I love this fitted rib t-shirt to wear with them because it balances out the loose fit of the shorts. My t-shirt has the perfect amount of stretch, and it feels lightweight. You can also layer it in the cooler months under a jacket. My shorts also come in black!

Black linen pants are a closet staple that you can wear to work or on the weekend for something casual. I wore this outfit out to a casual dinner.
Black Linen Mini Dress With Super Chic Accessories
Is there anything better than a linen dress with a little bit of stretch for extra comfort? Obviously, I bought this mini dress in white, but it also comes in black! I sized down one size. I recreated this entire outfit in black. My sunglasses also come in black, and they’re super chic. I tried them on in store and really want to justify purchasing them because they’re that good, ha! My shoes are also available in a color called juniper berry, which is a dark navy that will look so chic with this dress.

Black Maxi Skirt Outfits
If you’re looking for a piece you can wear to work, vacation, or the weekend, I highly recommend the black maxi skirt I’m wearing. I like it so much I wrote an entire blog post on how to style a long black skirt! I wore this outfit on vacation in Maine, and it was perfect for New England summer nights. I’ve also worn this look during the day here in DC. While I styled this as a monochrome look – I love head to toe black or any other color – you can also pair this beauty with your favorite bright top.
I’m wearing a size 6 petite in the skirt – I went with petite for my height. if you’re 5’4 or shorter, you should go with the petite option too! These slingback shoes are also a favorite of mine, and they’re so comfortable.
Black Mini Dress
A black shirtdress is always a reliable option to keep in your closet. My exact dress is old, but Sezane made it in a linen option this year with an optional belt, which is even better! It’s an oversized shirt dress, and it’s honestly just the perfect dress to throw on for the weekend or vacation. I love how you can style it in so many different ways. I styled it in both photos you see here for weekend outings in the city, but you can also wear it to dinner. Or, if you’re traveling to the beach or heading to the pool, you can wear this over your swimsuit.

A classic black and white t-shirt is the perfect piece to wear with linen pants, shorts, or even jeans throughout the summer. I love this t-shirt – I’ve worn it many times, and I wash and dry it without any issues. I bought size small. If you’re between sizes, size down! I like to wear this t-shirt with blue denim. It would also look nice with white or black jeans. This type of outfit is easy to put together. It goes with just about any pair of shoes you want, especially if you’re wearing jeans.
Black Rib T-Shirt With Wide Leg Jeans
This is the exact type of summer outfit I wear when I’m visiting family in New England, where it’s not as hot. I also wear this when I know I’m just going to be inside. These wide leg jeans are a little more breathable in the summer than jeans with a closer cut, such as straight leg jeans.
Black Linen Vest With Your Favorite Pants Or Skirt
A black linen vest is so versatile for summer, and you can wear into fall too. I’ve gotten so many outfits out of this exact black linen vest that I had to include it. I’ve worn it with a maxi skirt, which you can see above, but I really love it with jeans!

A Couple Of Tips On How To Wear Black In Summer
First, try to stick to lightweight fabrics like cotton and linen. Summer is the perfect time to wear linen and cotton because they’ll keep you cool since they’re natural fabrics. Even darker colors like black or navy will be breathable and comfortable when you wear the right fabrics. My black linen pants are so lightweight, and choosing a light fabric will make a huge difference in how warm you feel. Somehow, I’m still surprised by how much better I feel when I wear linen pants instead of denim in the summer heat!
