Style has always been something I’ve felt confident in, or at the very least, really enjoyed. Putting outfits together has always brought me joy! When I first became a mom, I felt reinvigorated to find my personal style again after months of choosing clothes mostly that fit my bump – especially right before my little one was born. Fast forward two years later, and like many moms, I continue to rediscover what clothes work for me and make me feel confident.
Of course, it’s easy for your style to feel like the least of your priorities given all the responsibilities and to-do lists that come with being a mom (in addition to anything else you have going on – like work)! But, wearing outfits that make you feel good, or cool in this instance, can positively impact your confidence and productivity in all aspects of your life. That has been my experience, anyway! So, I’m sharing a roundup of cool mom outfits that I think can help inspire you, whether you’re just looking for a few cool accessories to add to your outfits or you’re totally reevaluating your wardrobe.

Ten Cool Mom Outfits
Below are a bunch of outfit ideas that made me feel like a mom with cool mom style! Sometimes, it’s just one piece of an outfit that adds the cool feeling to your look. It can be easy as adding a funky pair of sunglasses you love or it can be wearing trendy denim that works for you.
Summer Weekend Outfit
It’s important to have options on 90 degree days! I wore this to get coffee with my family, and I was so comfortable in it. The top of this tube top has an elastic band, so it won’t fall down. I also like to style this with a button up over it to protect my arms from the sun. Shop my outfit here.
Barrel Jeans Styled For Your Day
Do you love denim? Barrel jeans are the perfect option to add a cool mom vibe to your outfit. They don’t have to be styled in any certain way – they’re like your other jeans that you can wear with just about anything – cotton tank tops, a big sweater, a cardigan, a blouse with a fun print, or any other top you love. I prefer to tuck in my top with these jeans so you don’t distract from the flattering shape! This particular pair has a flattering high waist.

Barrel Jeans With Classic Pieces
Not every outfit has to be super edgy to bring a cool mom vibe. These mules, boucle polo, and simple suede bag all bring in 1990s nostalgia, which is very cool right now. These are the same barrel jeans that I’m wearing above. Click here to see this outfit on video. There are a lot of outfit ideas when it comes to barrel jeans – you can treat them like a typical pair of jeans!

My bag also comes in a really beautiful navy suede, and my shoes also come in chocolate brown.

Oversized Striped Blazer With Jeans
This oversized striped camel blazer is the definition of a closet hero, and it gives your outfit an effortless, cool feel. Most oversized pieces will do that! The magic of this blazer is that it’s super versatile. You can wear this to work or for a casual weekend outfit.

The matching belt that comes with this blazer can also change the entire look of your outfit to feel even more polished and tailored while still being cool. There aren’t any belt loops on the blazer, so it won’t look like your belt is missing if you choose to wear the blazer without the belt.

Oversized Striped Blazer With White Linen Skirt
This blazer will take you from fall all the way to spring with ease. There’s nothing more effortless than a blazer and a t-shirt paired with whatever bottoms are best for the occasion. You can wear this outfit or something similar just about anywhere – work, an event at your child’s school, a coffee meeting, or even something as random as a garden tour, which is where I wore it! Oversized blazers pair perfectly with midi skirts – not just pants!

Classic Fit Suede Jacket Or Suede Bomber Jacket
Outerwear options can do a lot to impact the vibe of your outfit, especially in transitional months when you wear outerwear all day as opposed to just taking off a winter coat when you get inside. Suede jackets are a combination of classic and on-trend. They’re worth including in your wardrobe because you can wear them to work and on the weekend.

I’ve also been eyeing this gorgeous mustard yellow suede jacket that’s similar to the first two I’m wearing above.

Photos can’t do my suede bomber jacket justice. It’s just so cool and it’s very high quality. This is the perfect jacket to wear with high waist pants because of where it hits. I sized up one size, but just go with your regular size for a more classic fit. I’m wearing a US 8/UK 12, but my normal size would be a US 6/UK 10.
Oversized Suede Blazer
Like I mentioned above, most blazers will give your outfit an effortless look, which is one of the keys to dressing “cool.” Okay, the photo of this suede blazer isn’t the highest quality because it’s a screenshot from a video – you can watch the video here for a better look at the blazer! But, this blazer itself is a stunning! You can get so much use out of this one blazer, whether you wear it with jeans, with a slip skirt for work, or with work trousers.

1990s Styled Outfit
Accessories are an easy and often affordable way to indulge in a trend to make your outfit feel cool. I wore this look to dinner over the summer, and I loved how the sunglasses and flats made me feel, well, cool! This is another outfit that feels inspired by the 1990s and another example of how your outfit can be cool without being edgy!

Classic But Cool Shoes That Go With Most Outfits
Loafers feel like the definition of a cool mom shoe. They’re practical but edgy! I love how they go with jeans, skirts, and dresses. Basically, everything in your closet.

Here are some loafers I love (including a few I own).
Ballet flats are another example! They’re certainly a classic shoe, but they’re very on-trend right now – and they aren’t going out of style. There are so many different options when it comes to flats! You can style them in the winter with sock tights. Or, in the summer, try a woven flat, mesh ballet flats, or espadrilles so your feet can breathe.

Cotton Maxi Skirt With Combat Boots Or Loafers
If you like skirts more than jeans, this outfit is for you! This skirt is 98 percent cotton with a tiny bit of stretch, which means it’s super comfortable and very breathable. It’s a good option for spring, summer, and fall, and you can just change up your shoes depending on the season. A denim jacket and combat boots add the perfect cool girl vibe to an otherwise classic outfit. My skirt also comes in white. I’m wearing the petite length, and I’m 5’4.

Tonal Outfits
Tonal dressing is one of the easiest ways to create a cool outfit if you ask me. There was even a section on tonal dressing and how powerful it can be in my personal styling course. Anyway, earth tones are easy to use to achieve this look, but you can also use bright colors if you prefer them!

Oversize Blazer With A Shirtdress And Chunky Boots
Who says you can’t be a cool mom while you’re super pregnant? This outfit looks really put together, but it’s one of the easiest and most comfortable looks, whether you’re 8 months pregnant or not! I simply threw on a hugely oversized blazer with a shirt dress! Chunky boots will always give your outfit a cool mom boost. They also happen to be very comfortable and easy to walk in, so it’s a win-win.

Have You Ever Wondered How To Dress Like A Cool Mom? I Know I Have!
Whenever I have this thought, I’m brought back to the movie Mean Girls when the mom says she’s a cool mom. Seriously, though, dressing in what makes you feel good, in my opinion, is how to dress like a cool mom! There’s nothing better than wearing something that feels like it was made for you. If you’re looking for a few tips, though, here are mine.
Use Cool Outerwear
Outerwear, or pieces like blazers and jackets, can change the entire vibe of an outfit! Oversized blazers and most suede or leather jackets will add a cool vibe to your look.
Give Loafers A Try
Loafers are a classic option but also come with a cool girl vibe that other shoes just don’t have! Whether you prefer a traditional loafer or something with a chunky sole, all loafers will add a fun edge to your look.
Don’t Rely On Trends For Personal Style
Trends are always fun to explore, but don’t rely on them to be your personal style. I love incorporating barrel jeans into my outfits because they bring edge to my wardrobe, and I’ve always loved wearing edgy pieces and more feminine pieces together. If you prefer more classic looks but you’re looking for something to add to your outfits to feel cool, accessories are an easy way to accomplish this goal without busting your budget – or buying something you won’t end up wearing enough to justify the purchase.
