10 Edgy Office Wear Outfit Ideas For Different Dress Codes

Hello there! Thank you for stopping by today. One of the things I love about fashion is personal style. To some, outfits are a fun way to express yourself, but it also doesn’t have to be that deep – you can just love what you love! I fall somewhere in the middle. Anyway, one of the things I love is to add edgy pieces into my wardrobe, and I’ve always included that vibe in my work wardrobe as well. So, today, I’m sharing a roundup of edgy and professional outfits that you can wear to work.

Edgy fashion style can be worn in all different types of dress codes and help elevate your office look. It can be something as simple as a belt or the centerpiece of your outfit, like a leather skirt. There are lots of different ways to dress edgy – it all depends on your personal style! Your entire outfit doesn’t have to be made up of edgy pieces. Instead, you can mix super romantic and feminine pieces with edgier pieces in the same outfit. This is what I love to do.

Before I get into outfit ideas, I wanted to share a few places I love to shop for edgier pieces. While you can find an edgy piece or two at a lot of different stores, I love All Saints, Massimo Dutti, Mango, and even Everlane. Maje and Sandro also have edgy investment pieces that you can incorporate into your wardrobe.

Edgy Office Outfit 1: Pleated Skirt For Business Casual Offices

Loafers are a great way to add edge to your outfit without compromising your dress code. Chunky loafers are the best option to add edge to your look, but even a classic penny loafer will work. While I’m wearing a linen t-shirt below, you can wear this exact outfit with a cashmere tee, button up, or an elevated blouse to dress up your outfit – all while keeping it a little edgy with your loafers and black pleated skirt.

Edgy Office Outfit 2: How To Wear Combat Boots To Work With A Skirt

Combat boots are the perfect edgy work shoe in the spring and fall for casual offices. They’re one of my favorite things to wear when the weather is right! They look really nice with a pleated skirt or a maxi slip skirt. I like to make sure the skirt is long enough to cover the top of my boots so there isn’t a gap between my skirt and shoes. If you prefer pants, you can style combat boots with jeans or work trousers like I did below. The options are endless with these shoes!

Edgy Office Outfit 3: Fun Blazer With Chunky Boots

If you want to wear combat boots or chunky boots with work pants or jeans, it’s easy to style them under your pants. It’s a more polished look than tucking your pants into your boots, which is also a popular, edgy way to style chunky boots. Anyway, a fun blazer is another way to bring edge to your outfit and still be dressed for a casual work environment. A blazer is also a way show your personal style, whether you go for classic, oversized, a fun pattern, or a combination. This photo truly feels like my personality in an outfit.

Edgy Office Outfit 4: Oversized Blazer For Any Dress Code

An oversized blazer with black accessories is an edgy work outfit that doesn’t go overboard. You can wear this with whatever bottoms are the most appropriate for your dress code, such as work trousers, jeans, or a skirt. All of these options are perfectly work appropriate. And, this outfit feels like it has more personality than a classic fit blazer. I also love how this blazer and a classic black leather belt bring a 1990s feel to your look, which always gives off an effortless, cool girl type vibe.

Edgy Office Outfit 5: Olive Pants And Chic Work Shoes

For a casual office outfit that you can wear in spring, summer, or fall, on-trend olive green pants and ballet flats or loafers are perfectly edgy. The color of my pants adds a cool girl vibe – just think how different this outfit would feel with white pants – it would have a much more classic feel! Don’t forget your belt like I did! I linked two options to go with the different shoe choices. You can carry this outfit into the colder months by choosing a black or brown sweater.

Edgy Office Outfit 6: How To Add Edgy Accessories

Accessories are the perfect way to incorporate edgy pieces into your outfit without wearing an overall edgy look. If you work somewhere with a business or formal dress code, then accessories are your key to adding edge to your outfit. My outfit is a great example, but I would definitely tuck in my entire shirt if I were wearing this to work. Okay, on the whole, this look doesn’t feel edgy. But, the medallion belt and retro sunglasses add a fun, unique, and edgy feel to a classic look.

I was actually wearing this outfit on vacation, but it’s perfect for the office. I love outfits that do both! You can also wear this look with loafers!

Edgy Office Outfit 7: Barrel Jeans For Casual Office Outfit

Okay, this photo isn’t the best as I grabbed it from a video – which you can watch here! This outfit is perfect for those casual days at work, and the barrel jeans are an edgy base of an outfit. When you wear them with a classic polo and mules, you have a perfectly edgy and work appropriate outfit!

Edgy Office Outfit 8: How To Wear Sneakers To Work

This outfit is another option for a laid back dress code. Sneakers are the perfect way to add a fun bit of edge to your look. Sambas are still very popular, but they also go with a lot! They come in so many different color combinations now, but the classic pair like I’m wearing below or something similar are a good option if you’re wearing them to work. These go perfectly with black work trousers and an oversized button up. You could also wear these with a black skirt.

Edgy Office Outfit 9: Linen Dress And Leather Jacket For Any Dress Code

This type of dress will go a long way in your wardrobe, whether you’re dressing it up for work or just throwing it on for the weekend. A linen dress is the perfect work to weekend option and the perfect summer to fall dress. Basically, it’s just incredibly versatile. I styled this look with a v-neck dress, and you can layer it with a button up for the office when it gets cooler outside or during the summer. In the spring and fall, you can also wear it with a leather jacket, leather blazer, or your choice of outerwear. The leather jacket will give your look edge, and in the summer, you can go for a chunky loafer to help achieve the same vibe. I’m wearing ballet flats in the photos below, but I love how this looks with loafers. I linked a dress similar to mine, as mine is old!

Edgy Office Outfit 10: Chunky Boots With An Oversized Blazer And Dress

This was one of my favorite outfits to wear in the fall when I was pregnant, and I still love this look now that I’m not pregnant! If you work in a casual office environment, this is a great spring or fall outfit idea. Chunky boots are an edgy alternative to flat knee high boots or ballet flats. An oversized blazer always helps add a cool girl vibe to your look, too! If you’re wondering what to wear under a blazer, I have an entire blog post with ideas.

My outfit is from 2022, so everything is old but I recreated a similar outfit.
