What to Wear With Light Blue Jeans

Hi there! If you’ve been here before, you already know how much I love jeans. They’re a classic staple that you can wear any time of the year. I think jeans work for everyone since they come in so many different styles and washes. Light blue jeans have become pretty popular in my closet for all seasons, so I wanted to put together a blog post on all the different ways to wear them. I always love a lighter wash denim for spring and fall, but they’re also perfect for winter as you can see below! They look really nice with so many different fabrics, including cold weather fabrics like leather, which makes them easy to style.

Today, I’m sharing a roundup of items that look great with light blue jeans plus some outfits that you can wear right now.

What To Wear With Light Blue Jeans All Year

First, here are my absolute favorite light blue denim jeans. I own and love most of these. If you’re looking for light blue jeans you can wear all summer, check out this pair that I just bought (they’re also linked below). They’re lightweight denim made to wear when it’s warm outside.

Okay, let’s look at individual items that work well with light blue jeans before we look at full outfits! I’ve worn light blue jeans with most of these pieces, so you can see what they look like in an outfit later in the blog (scroll down if that’s what you’re looking for!)

Cotton Vest

This cotton vest is one of my favorite things to wear in the spring, summer, and early fall to add a polished look to a jeans and t-shirt outfit. You can also wear a simple white tank top under it instead of a white tee. I love to wear this vest with straight leg jeans because of the cut of the vest – this style jeans will help your legs look longer.

Linen Tops

A linen top is a versatile piece that you can wear with light blue jeans all spring, summer, and even into the fall. They’ll go with any shoes as well. I just bought the first top, which you can see in a photo later in this post.

Mesh Ballet Flats

Mesh ballet flats are a fun twist on a classic, and they’ll never go out of style. They’re the perfect summer shoe to wear to work, on vacation, and just around on the weekend because they elevate your outfit and they give your feet more protection than sandals.

Grey Blazer

The grey blazer I’m wearing is 100 percent wool and incredibly warm, which is exactly what I was hoping for! I took this outfit for a test run on a really cold day and stayed warm, and I styled it here for a cold spring day with ballet flats. Whatever the weather, grey is a good color to wear with lighter wash denim. Blue and grey undertones work really well together.

Loafers and Socks

Pretty much any neutral loafer will look nice with light denim, whether you go for black loafers, brown loafers, or two-tone loafers! I think a leather shoe really pops against the lighter blue. You can pair your loafers with socks when it’s cold so you stay warm, which is how I wear my loafers throughout the winter. This is my favorite pair.

White Button Up

If you’re looking for the most classic thing you can wear with jeans, it’s a white button up. I live in this oversized one. Be sure to size down one size! I also love these classic options below if you want something with a closer fit, or if you need a classic fit for work.

Oversized Blazer

Oversize blazers are a classic piece you’ll never wear too much of, and they look so good with jeans. I love a leather blazer or suede blazer for colder months, but linen blazers just look as nice with light wash denim when it’s warmer! If you’re allowed to wear jeans to your office, tailored light blue jeans and a blazer are an instantly chic outfit for work. Or, pair an oversized blazer with raw hem jeans and sneakers for a sporty outfit on your days off. Click here to see the first blazer on me. I’d size down one size.

Leather jackets are also a fun piece of outerwear to wear with light blue jeans, whether you go with a brown leather jacket or a classic black leather jacket.

Tailored Coat

A tailored coat will go a long way in your closet for many years. Plus, they help add a bit of polish to denim outfits. There are so many coat options out there, which might feel a little overwhelming! I would pick based on which color will go with the absolute most in your closet. Okay, that might seem obvious. But, I am no stranger to getting pulled into adding a coat to my cart that is gorgeous but won’t work with most of my wardrobe.

Brown Sweaters

My closet is full of brown sweaters! If you love to wear brown or find your color analysis is warm, then brown is a great option for you too. From a cashmere crewneck that I wear every week when it’s cold outside to a brown knit sweater with bell sleeves I save for a dinner out, I turn to this color time and time again. There is something about a rich neutral color like brown or navy that just looks really nice with jeans in lighter shades.

Brown Boots

Brown leather boots look beautiful against a light wash jean. In general, brown boots are always my most-worn pairs every fall and winter, and I know I’ll wear each pair for years to come. I love the suede brown boots I’m wearing in the second photo because of how comfortable they are. I walked all over Boston in them the first time I really wore them.

Cream Handbag

I love how my cream handbag looks against my lighter wash denim, so I had to include it here! The bag is something you can wear all year, and it works for dinner out as well as when you’re just running errands.

Raffia Basket Bag

If you’re wearing light blue jeans in the spring, summer, or early fall, I love to wear this chic basket bag with it! I own and love the green (and frequently borrow the natural one from my mom), but it comes in lots of options and sizes. They’re all beautifully made.

Denim Button Up

I love the look of denim on denim. I own these high waisted light blue jeans and there’s actually a denim button up that’s a perfect match, which was such a good idea by this company given the popularity of full denim outfits. Anyway, you could wear a cardigan, blazer, or other jacket over this for a casual office look.

You could also wear your denim button up as an overshirt and layer it over a tank top or turtleneck! I love that type of outfit – it gives such an effortless, casual vibe. This denim button up is a great option for that type of outfit – wear it open or partially buttoned. I’d layer it with a white tank or turtleneck to tie it together with your lighter denim jeans.

Leather Belts

This one is short and sweet. Leather belts alway look really nice against denim, especially a simple leather belt. But, I love the one with the sun medallions on it. Not only are the medallions a fun detail, the belt is slightly skinnier in the front than it is on the sides and around the back, so it helps highlight your waist. I’ve been wearing it a lot since I bought it. Click here to see it on me. Okay, here are the outfits!

10 Light Blue Jeans Outfits

I have so many examples from my own outfits of how to wear light blue jeans because I wear them so much, and lot of them include the pieces I suggested above. Okay, let’s look at the outfits!

Floral Jeans And Button Up Shirt

A white button up with any pair of jeans is a classic, chic look. You can’t go wrong. I absolutely love these embroided floral jeans – they’re so much fun, but they’re also subtle enough to be versatile! You can wear this to work, to brunch, shopping, to a winery, to a cooking class, to a movie date. The options are endless. While I’m wearing shoes that are a good fit for fall or spring, these boots would look so cute with them. I own them in dark brown and love how they look with these pants.

Floral Jeans And Button Up Shirt

This outfit is actually just a great base outfit too! You can wear it by itself, or you can add to it! Layer with a sweater, a jacket, or a blazer, and add a belt! If you’re 5’4 or under like I am, these pants will feel more like full length jeans as opposed to crop like the name says, but I love the fit (depending on how long your legs are, of course)!

Featherweight Jeans Made To Wear During Summer

If you love jeans as much as I do and want to wear them in the summer heat, this pair of jeans is for you! They’re created perfectly lightweight so we can wear them all summer. I’ve been wearing them non-stop since I bought them. Size down if you’re between sizes. Shop my outfit here.

This tailored blazer is perfectly oversized and the neutral tone looks so good with light wash jeans. You can wear this outfit in the winter too by wearing boots instead of flats. I wore this outfit on a crisp spring morning to grab coffee with a friend!

Short Sleeve Sweater Perfect For Work or Weekend

Grey Wool Blazer With Neutral Boots

This outfit is one of those looks you can wear anywhere. It’s perfect for work. Grey Wool Blazer With Neutral Boots
Tailored Coat with Neutral Sweater and Loafers

Light blue denim can come off as casual, and a tailored coat will dress up your look. Layer a neutral top coat or a wrap coat over a cashmere sweater like I did below for an elevated casual look. Your shoe choice will also help elevate your look. So, go for loafers, boots, or ballet flats instead of sneakers. I would wear this to work in a casual office setting as well as on the weekend!

Daytime Outfit: Brown Sweater, Brown Boots, Blue Jeans

My muted chocolate brown sweater is another neutral that works well with lighter blue jeans. It’s an oversized fit, so you can also wear it untucked for ultra comfort. If you wear a lot of the same color together like I do, it never hurts to add some texture to your outfit, which is what I did with these brown woven leather boots. They’re stunning in person! I’m also wearing a neutral belt that’s a dark brown and black python print, which really shows up against light denim! Shop my entire outfit here.

Light Blue Denim Outfit For the Weekend

If you’re looking for something to wear on the weekends from the fall all the way through spring, give this look a try. This camel wool half zip up is so warm and comfortable, and it looks really cute with light wash jeans! So, you’ll be weekend comfortable but also put together. You can wear a tank top, t-shirt, or turtleneck under it too.

Light Blue Denim Outfit For the Weekend

I wear these loafers a lot because they’re just so comfortable pair I own, and they go with most every pair of jeans. The one downside to these loafers is that I don’t personally love the way they look with socks. I linked similar jeans that have the same crisscross waistband.

Green Suede Jacket And Light Blue Jeans

This suede jacket is the perfect shade of green because it’s really a neutral tone that you can wear with anything – from floral prints to white t shirts to grey sweaters. I love these with my straight leg jeans, but they also look nice with wide leg jeans. If you go for wide leg jeans, I’d add a belt to your outfit to help break it up. I sized up to a medium in this jacket so I could wear it buttoned up or open.

Ribbed Cashmere Sweater with Light Jeans for Winter Travel

This is the type of sweater you can wear for anything – from busy days at home with a baby to running around London. It works everywhere! My exact sweater is old, but I linked a very similar one that is also ribbed and a camel color.
