Hi there! Welcome! The holidays are always a busy time, and a leisurely brunch is one of the ways my friends and I spend time together. Then, January, February, and March always feel a little cold and gray here on the east coast, so I like to find things to do to keep busy after the holiday season! Brunch with friends and family is something I always enjoy in the winter too. It’s such a popular thing to do around here, so today’s post is all about what to wear to a winter brunch.

I love bundling up in a comfortable and chic look for a long meal – maybe there’s a bloody mary, maybe there are mimosas, or maybe regular orange juice! Whatever you prefer, I’ve put together a bunch of outfits that will keep you stylish and warm while you spend time with people you love – and enjoy good food. I’ve also attended brunches for work events, so I’m including outfits that fit into a work dress code too!
15 Winter Brunch Outfit Ideas
Okay, let’s look at winter brunch outfit ideas! Whether you’re looking for a casual winter brunch outfit or something with classic elegance, I’ve included all different types of looks.
Elevated Brunch Outfit: Wide Leg Corduroy Pants With Comfortable Shirt
If you want to wear an elevated outfit that still feels effortless, give this look a try. These wide leg corduroys have quickly become a go-to pair of pants for me. They are versatile, comfortable, and warm. You can style them with a chic leather jacket, or you can dress them down with a sweater. I also love how you can wear ankle boots with them (that’s what I’m wearing) or your knee high boots.

Cozy and Casual Brunch In A Chic Flower Print Jacket
This jacket is the star of your outfit. It’s one of those unique, beautiful jackets that you can wear with jeans, trousers, or with a slip skirt. You can wear it throughout your entire brunch, or you can take it off and wear a blouse or sweater under.

Suede Jacket With Cashmere Sleeveless Sweater
Layering is really the key to dressing this time of the year. One of the reasons this suede shirt jacket is worth the investment is because it’s so easy to layer over and under. You can see how easily it layers easily under a puffer coat for those really cold days. You can style this with jeans and booties, or you can wear it with knee high boots and a skirt.

The Basics: Jeans and A Striped Sweater
This is one of my favorite outfits for a late winter, early spring brunch. You can never go wrong with a striped sweater, jeans, and your favorite shoes. Speaking of shoes, sock tights are a great way to wear ballet flats or loafers in the winter. I’ve worn these for years. They add a feeling of classic elegance to your look. Plus, they keep your feet warm, and you can still keep both types of shoes in rotation! You can read my blog post on how to wear loafers in the winter here.

Comfortable and Chic For Brunch And Shopping
This sherpa vest and silk blouse work perfectly together for an elevated, casual outfit. I love this look if you’re planning to spend the day out and about. The boots are easy to walk in, and the pointed toe helps makes your legs look longer. The sherpa vest is also easy to layer over with a coat, but you can also wear it by itself.

Sherpa Vest And A Turtleneck For A Family Brunch
When I think of winter brunch, I think of cozy. So, if you’re traveling somewhere cozy this winter, this outfit is a must. I kind of threw this together at the last minute on our trip to England, but it’s quickly become one of my favorite winter looks. This chocolate brown turtleneck is versatile, warm, and a great price. I layered everything under this trench coat, but this outfit also works with a winter coat or even a puffer jacket for those extremely cold days.

Edgy Chic Outfit: Oversized Cashmere Sweater And Black Jeans
Black jeans are an easy way to add edge to your outfit. This brunch outfit is perfect for a long meal with your family on New Year’s Day. But, it also works for catching up with friends. A velvet headband is the perfect detail to add a feminine detail to an edgy look.

The bag and headband are similar to what I’m wearing.
Fun Sweater With Jeans And Brown Boots
A fun sweater with jeans, a wrap coat, and suede boots is a classic outfit formula that will never fail you. This type of outfit is one of my favorites because you don’t have to do anything but put it on and it looks good. I would also add a belt to bring it all together.

I linked similar style sweaters below that I thought were fun and would look nice with my exact jeans.
These jeans would also look good with a chunky knit sweater like this one. I love the cable knit and oversized fit, so you’ll be warm and comfortable.
Grey Blazer and Cashmere Sweater Outfit for Brunch Anywhere
Grey is such a good color for this time of the year! I love this grey blazer and sweater combination for anything. Whether you’re heading to brunch after a work conference or just going out with friends, this outfit is chic enough for both occasions and also work appropriate. I love most oversized blazers, but this one is exceptional because it somehow still has shape to it when you’re wearing it. You also won’t feel restricted when you’re eating!

Maxi Skirt With Shirt Jacket And Sleeveless Sweater
A maxi skirt is a chic alternative to jeans or other pants. You can wear this outfit in all different winter climates, whether you layer it with a cozy coat or you live somewhere that you don’t need an extra layer. I love this cashmere bandana that you can add for extra warmth!

I recreated my outfit with pieces that are available now.
Wrap Sweater Winter Brunch Outfit Idea
My cashmere wrap sweater has been a closet hero for me ever since I purchased it during Black Friday sales last year. It’s super high quality and so, so soft. The tie waist is positioned perfectly, so it looks nice with a tank top under it like I’m wearing here or without the tank top. You can see how I styled it for a fun double date without a tank top in this video.

Wide Leg Jeans for Winter Brunch
If you’ve read any of my other blog posts, you might’ve seen this photo (and some of the others here) before. But, I love to rewear my looks as much as possible – it’s the point of how I shop – so I hope you don’t mind. I always aim for versatility when I put together a look, and I hope you can see how many different ways you can wear the pieces I share. These wide leg jeans are an example of jeans I’ve worn so many times and for different occasions. I’ve worn them on a date with my husband, as well as to dinner with girlfriends. You can add a fun edge to them with a leather jacket.

Anyway, they’re a great jean option for a brunch where you want to dress up a little bit but still wear denim. Pair them with any top or sweater. If you choose to wear a blazer, lady jacket, or cardigan, I would go for a shorter or cropped style so the jeans can accentuate your legs!
The jeans I linked are also called trouser jeans by J.Crew, but they look a little different this year. I had mine hemmed to go with a few pairs of boots I knew I wanted to wear them with! I always check the inseams when I’m shopping for pants. At 5’4, anything with an inseam of 28 and under is fine to wear with flats without being hemmed. If the inseam is longer than that, I’ll need to have them hemmed to wear with flats. I also love to purchase petite pants for length.
Trendy Denim and A Classic Sweater
This outfit is another option to consider if you’re heading to a casual brunch. You could wear these boots with this look. My ribbed half zip sweater is a classic piece that pairs well with trendier jeans like barrel jeans. But, it would also look nice with skinny jeans or wide leg jeans. One of the things I love about this sweater is the bracelet sleeve style because it doesn’t get in your way when you’re eating.

The exact color of my sweater is sold out since it’s super old, but it comes in a lot of other options too. I recreated this outfit how I would style it today with what’s available!
Occasion Dress For A Celebratory Brunch
These dresses are for you if you’re attending an event that’s over brunch. Think a baby shower, engagement celebration, bridal celebration, birthday brunch, or any other type of celebration! I would pair any of these dresses with boots!
Work Appropriate Brunch Outfit
This is another outfit that you can wear to a work brunch and these pants can be styled for just about any dress code. I’ve been in several jobs where I attended a breakfast for work and needed to dress the part! I love this look for a work breakfast or work brunch because you can wear it the entire work day and even but cute enough for dinner! You’ll be comfortable, work appropriate, and chic in this outfit.
