20 Chic Travel Outfits for All Different Seasons

These outfits will help you get dressed effortlessly so you can spend less time worrying about what you’re wearing to the airport or in the car and more time planning and enjoying your trip. I also included a travel outfit for those days that you’re traveling for work and don’t have time to change between your travel and your workday.

Elevated Leggings Outfit

This type of outfit is a go-to travel outfit for me, whether I’m spending the day in the car or flying on a redeye. These Varley leggings are so comfortable, and I love the oversized boyfriend t-shirt. Sometimes, I wear an oversized sweater with the leggings and a more classic fit tee underneath.

You can layer either outfit with a sweatshirt, sweater, or even a button up. Plus, it will match with any type of coat for any season. This is the definition of a versatile travel outfit. Click here to shop this outfit.

Overnight, Longhaul Flight Approved Pants

If I had to pick one pair of pants to travel in forever, it’s these Alex Mill pants. They’re the perfect length to wear with or without socks, they’re mostly cotton with a tiny bit of stretch, and they have pockets. You can wear your top tucked in or not. You can style them with literally any top – from a sweater to a t-shirt. I also own the matching cardigan, but I actually prefer to wear other tops with them. And, they happen to look chic with flats, loafers, or even sneakers.

I paired them with a long sleeve striped tee and loafers the last time I wore them on a long haul flight.

A Linen Top and Polished Sweatpants

These are the same sweatpants as above, and they’re styled for a super long car ride. I also want to note this long sleeve linen top that I’m wearing around my waist in the photo. It’s one of those pieces that’s always a good idea for spring or summer travel. It’s easy to style over a t-shirt and it’s not too heavy. Click here to see the linen tee on me instead of styled around my waist.

Polished Linen Pants

These linen pants make any travel outfit instantly polished. They’re a good option if you’re heading somewhere you want to feel put together when you arrive. They come in several other colors too. You can see them on me below in the perfect summer color. Click here to shop my entire outfit.

Cotton Button Up With Wide Leg Pants

These wide leg linen-blend pants are the same pair I’m wearing above in a different color – I just styled them for warm weather this time. I love the versatility of these pants since they work well with a sweater, t-shirt, or button up. I didn’t wear these pants for a travel day on my recent trip, but I absolutely would. I love how the elastic waistband is super narrow, so it feels more chic than a super obvious one.

Elevated Loungewear That Looks Super Chic

I highly recommend these pointelle pants for travel. They’re another pair of pants that I’ve worn for long days on planes, trains, and in cars. I hesitate to call these sweatpants because they’re just so chic! I wore these for a long travel day home from the UK, and I didn’t have to think about my outfit once. Is there anything better than that when you’re juggling suitcases, a stroller, passports, and what feels like a million other things?

I styled these pants for a cold fall day. But, I wear these all year because they’re cotton, so they’re breathable!

Cotton Pants With An Oversized Sweater

Here’s another way to style these pants for travel. I was just going to get a pizza in this photo, but I’ve worn these pieces separately and together on long travel days to the UK and Massachusetts. These fun shoes help dress up your outfit so you won’t feel or look like you’re wearing pajamas. Plus, wearing a pair of your nice shoes on your travel day is an easy way to get them there without having to take up space in your suitcase.

Jeans Comfortable Enough to Fly In

These jeans are comfortable enough to wear on a short flight, and so is the rest of this outfit. I love a button up to dress up any travel outfit, honestly. The one I’m wearing is oversized, so it’s easy to layer but also feels chic by itself. I love that it’s cotton, so you’re never too hot or too cold when you wear it. Loafers are always a good idea to help elevate your outfit while also being practical.

Linen Essentials for A Warm Weather Destination

These linen pants and linen button up are the perfect combination for a warm weather destination, whether you’re heading on a short flight, a long car ride, or a long flight.

Button Up And Chic Barrel Pants

Okay, these barrel chino pants are insanely comfortable so they’re perfect if you want to travel in something nicer than loungewear. They come in a few other colors, too.

Linen Button Up And Chic Barrel Pants

These are the same pants styled with a linen button up – I love how the monochrome adds a little bit of an elevated feel to any outfit. Linen button ups are always a good idea for travel because you won’t be hot, but you’ll still have sleeves in case your arms get cold.

Summer Dress With Smocking

This Hill House dress is one I turn to for summer vacation travel when I’m in Massachusetts. It’s perfect for boat ride travel. I love how you can easily pop on a sweater over it for cool summer nights, and it looks good with just about any pair of shoe you would wear in the summer – even sneakers or loafers.

Work Meeting Ready Travel Outfit

These crepe pants are the solution when you have to head straight to a meeting off the plane or a long car drive. They’re comfortable and, in my experience, don’t wrinkle easily. I love the cropped length since I’m 5’4, but they also come in regular, tall, and tons of materials and color options. If you’re working in an office, I highly recommend having a pair of these in your closet.

The other nice thing about these pants? They go with any pair of work shoes and work appropriate tops. I used to wear a comfortable but nice tank top or t-shirt on the plane. Then, you can easily just add a sweater or blazer once you arrive to your meeting.

Travel Day Outfit for Work

These are the same pants as above. I love this for a fall or winter look! These loafers are so comfortable. And, this Longchamp is a hero travel bag.

Work or Casual Travel Outfit: Linen-Blend Pants With A Cotton Sweater

I just purchased these tops and linen-blend pants, and I’m so excited to style them together. This is actually one of my favorite travel outfits! I love this for a spring or summer travel day. You can style the sweater in so many ways, whether you wear it normally, around your waist, or over your shoulders. This outfit also works for work travel.

Linen Pants And A Button Up With A T-Shirt for A Boat Travel Day

This is a super casual travel outfit! I wore it to and from Nantucket on a boat, and I spent the entire day touring around Nantucket in it. So, it feels like a very well tested outfit. My focus was making sure I wouldn’t be hot. And, the outfit needed to be something I could wear on the beach if we decided to go for a walk, which we did!

Do not buy these pants if you’re afraid of wrinkles! I really don’t mind wrinkled linen because, well, that’s just what linen does. But, I know that’s not the case for everyone. I’m obsessed with this olive green they made these pants in this year!

The Softest Matching Sets

Varley is known for their Doublesoft material, and it is so dreamy for travel days. I own a few things from Varley and always love their pieces. You can pick any matching set and you won’t be disappointed. I love how you can mix and match their clothes so easily too.

Cute and Comfortable Fall Travel Outfits

Comfortable Dresses for Warm Weather

Travel outfits don’t have to be loungewear or pants. If you want to wear a dress for travel, I always go for something midi and classic. Mini dresses are rarely comfortable enough to wear when you have to move luggage around and I hate how maxi dresses get on the floor when you’re moving around a lot too. So, enter the midi dress and practical, stylish shoes. If you want to add something special, just use your accessories! I’d go for a cotton or silk scarf or a fun necklace.

Cashmere T-Shirt Perfect for Travel

This cashmere t-shirt goes well with linen pants for a travel day. There’s also an oversized cashmere tee for a more relaxed vibe. Either one will look good with the linen pants I’m wearing above.

Accessories I Love To Travel With

These are easy to travel with and pair with a button up, sweater, or dress!

How to Look Chic While Traveling

Invest in versatile basics

These are pieces like the cashmere t-shirt, linen pants, button up, and other things I’m wearing throughout this post. They all work for travel, and oftentimes, work and the weekend.

Layer strategically

I love the linen top and button ups I wore throughout this post for layering. Oversized sweaters that are cotton or cashmere are also good options because they’re breathable fabrics.

Comfortable yet stylish footwear

This is key! I’m super practical when it comes to footwear in my every day life, but especially when traveling. I basically won’t pack serious heels unless I need them for a special dinner or a wedding. Slingback heels or kitten heels are a great option for being stylish and feeling comfortable.

Accessories elevate outfits

Fun necklaces, belts, dainty jewelry, and the perfect bag all help elevate simple travel outfits, and it helps you get these accessories to your destination without having to actually pack them.

Pack wrinkle-resistant fabrics if you need to

This is especially important if you don’t or can’t steam your pieces when you arrive at your destination! I don’t ever focus too much on this because I always just plan to set aside a few minutes to steam my clothes when I’m getting ready.
