Hi there! We are nearly in full linen season with the warm temperatures showing up. I think they’re here to stay for the summer. If you’re looking for something lightweight and chic to wear, a linen maxi skirt is a go-to piece for when the temperatures start to rise. It’s the best of both worlds. Like most of the pieces I like to share, linen skirts are easy to dress up or dress down depending on where you’re heading. Another thing I love about linen is that it’s a natural fabric, which is why it’s so breathable and comfortable.
How To Wear a Linen Maxi Skirt
Before we get into linen skirt outfit ideas, here are just a few tips on wearing a linen maxi skirt!
First, I love to mix and match lightweight fabrics with linen to add dimension to your look. For example, this cotton top is full of texture but still lightweight. The cropped cut of this top is also perfect to wear with a high waisted skirt because it will elongate your legs.
Don’t be afraid to wear your linen skirt with a sweater! This is always such a gorgeous look, and it’s perfect for nights at the beach.
If you’re short like me, you might consider wearing a small heel (or whatever height is your favorite) with your maxi skirt to give yourself a little extra height. Click here to see how I wear a low heel slingback shoe with my maxi skirt (mine is cotton, and I’m wearing the 6 petite).
Matching sets are an easy, effortless way to style a maxi skirt.
I’ve included several linen maxi skirts below that I love. These are all skirts that I think you could wear for different occasions and dress up or down.
Linen Maxi Skirt Outfit Ideas
Linen Maxi Skirt Outfit 1: Black Linen Maxi Skirt For Weekend Outfit
Do you ever wish you had a go-to summer outfit that you can wear all weekend? A black linen skirt is the perfect base for that type of outfit. You can dress it up or dress it down. I love to wear this black and white striped t-shirt with skirts and jeans all summer. I put it through the washer and the dryer without any issue! It’s true to size.
These shoes and accessories are a fun way to add your own personal style to a simple base outfit like a skirt and t-shirt. Since I live in a city, ballet flats are the most practical option for me during the day. So, I love mesh ballet flats and other types of shoes that allow my feet to breathe in the summer that aren’t necessarily sandals. I often wear these sunglasses to add a fun retro vibe to my outfit.
Linen Maxi Skirt Outfit 2: Black Linen Maxi Skirt With Going Out Top
This smocked tube top is perfect to wear with the black linen maxi skirt and sandals for a beach vacation date night! Either one of these bags will elevate your look and give it a warm weather feel.
Linen Maxi Skirt Outfit 3: On-Trend Brown Linen Maxi Skirt And Matching Top
If you’ve visited my Instagram or read my blog before, you will know my love of neutrals and brown in particular. It just goes really well with my skin and hair, so I naturally gravitate towards wearing it. Brown happens to look good on a lot of different color palettes, whether you’re a warm bright like me or a cooler color palette.
However, if you don’t think brown tops make you feel your best but you love brown, you can wear it as a bottom! That way, it’s not right against your face. This is a style tip and trick I learned in my personal styling course, and it just makes so much sense. So, if you love brown, give this skirt a try with a white, cream, or pastel top. I also love this matching vest top.
Linen Maxi Skirt Outfit 4: Gingham Maxi Skirt
Gingham always reminds me of summer, and this gingham skirt is beautiful! It feels very eye catching, and it’s only $40. It’s perfect to wear from daytime to night. You can wear it with pretty much any top you like and any shoes you like. I’d go for a flat sandal during the day and you can wear a sandal with a heel at night. You can definitely wear this skirt to work too – it would look really nice with this blouse or something similar. This skirt also comes in solid colors.

Linen Maxi Skirt Outfit 5: White Linen Skirt You Can Wear With A Belt
One of my biggest issues with linen skirts is they rarely have belt loops. So, I love this option with belt loops. Being able to accessorize with a belt can be a game changer, and it can change the whole feel of your outfit. You can style a western look with a western belt and boots, and you can create an elevated, classic 90s look with a plain leather belt and sandals.
If you’re looking for a linen midi skirt, I highly recommend the one I’m wearing below. It’s beautifully made, not too flowy or wide, it has pockets, and it’s lined. I really love it! It runs true to size.
