While dresses and skirts are an obvious go-to option for summer outfits, jeans can be just as useful in the warm weather as other seasons! They’re a great option for summer nights, to avoid bugs (this is a serious one for me!), or if you’ll be inside for work. There are also lightweight denim options now that are made for the hot weather, which makes styling jeans for summer outfits so much easier.

10 Summer Outfits With Jeans You Can Wear Right Now
There are so many different types of jeans you can wear throughout the summer, and lots of tops, shoes, and accessories to wear with them to make everything you’re wearing feel like a summer outfit.
Can You Wear Jeans In The Summer
Jeans are one of the most dependable pieces in most closets, including during the summer. You can typically get so many outfits out of them – especially if you work in a casual work environment and you can wear your jeans to work and on the weekend. Even in DC, where we have extreme humidity and heat, people wear jeans all the time, including myself.
What to Wear With Jeans in Summer
Summer Flats
Woven ballet flats, mesh flats, and espadrilles are all great closed-toe shoe options for the summer. I always turn to this type of shoe because they’re typically comfortable, chic, and just so practical. I recently tried this pair of woven leather flats and fell in love with them! Not only will they look so chic with jeans, but they’re also so comfortable. I can’t emphasize that enough! Of course, sandals are always an option as well!
Linen Tops
Is there anything more comfortable than wearing a top that you barely notice when it’s hot outside? That’s linen for you, isn’t it? Whether you wear a long sleeve linen top or a flowy one, they’re perfect to wear with any color or style of jeans all summer.
Button Ups
Button ups are a go-to piece in my closet. I think I’d be lost without them. They’re just so easy to throw on, and they look good with jeans however you choose to style them – tucked in, with the sleeves rolled up, open with a tank top underneath, half tucked, or another way. I typically go for linen or 100 percent cotton button ups for the summer.
How to Wear Jeans in the Summer
Ecru Jeans And A Short Sleeve Cardigan
Straight leg ecru jeans are one of my favorite styles for summer because they look really nice with a flowy top or a button up. They’re just super versatile. I’m wearing the 27.5 inch inseam length in these ecru jeans in my normal size 28.

Okay, if you live somewhere like DC where it gets in the 90s for weeks in a row, you might wonder why I’m suggesting a sweater to you. My short sleeve cotton cardigan is really lightweight, so it’s something you can pack for a beach vacation when you want a little sweater at night, or if you live somewhere that just doesn’t get as hot all the time. I wore this in Massachusetts, and it’s perfect for New England summer. I’d also wear this in LA!
Jeans With Tailored Cutouts
These jeans feel like the elevated version of ripped jeans, which to be clear, I’ve definitely worn too. The cut outs on the sides are perfect for keeping a little cool when it’s warm out, but they’re very practical. I am obsessed with these jeans, and I wear them all the time. They’re true to size and just super flattering. I honestly can’t think of anything negative to tell you about them. I was concerned by the inseam length, but they fit perfectly for someone who is 5’4 or above. I’ve been wearing them with mesh flats, raffia flats, and my favorite loafers. You can shop my entire outfit here.

Lightweight Jeans And A Linen Top
I think I buried the lede a little bit here because the jeans I’m wearing are literally made for summer weather. They’re called featherweight jeans, and they hit around the ankle. The fact that they’re wide leg jeans also helps keep you feeling cool when it’s hot. If you love to wear jeans throughout the summer, whether you’re wearing them when it’s 90 or when it’s 70, they’re perfect for warm temperatures!

Cotton Vest and Linen Top With Light Blue Jeans
These light blue jeans are a year round closet staple because they can be dressed up for work or worn casually for the weekend. If you love a flowy linen blouse or just a linen t-shirt, straight leg jeans work perfectly with that type of outfit. Shop my outfit here.

Embroidered Jeans And A Button Up
My embroidered jeans feel like they’re made for warm weather. The flower detail isn’t overwhelming but adds something special to otherwise normal blue jeans. These have a 26.5 inch inseam, so they’re perfect if you’re on the shorter side like I am at 5’4. I love how the jeans look with a simple cotton button up and slingbacks, which are perfect for summer. But, I also wear it with a linen t-shirt. Shop my outfit here.

White Barrel Jeans Styled Different Ways
Barrel jeans feel trendy, but I think they’re here to stay. They are essentially a universally flattering pant because of the way they’re cut. Not all barrel jeans are the same though – some are a super wide leg style, but the pair I styled here are much more tailored, which is what I prefer. I own these in a different color and really love them! You can easily wear this outfit with just the linen top or just the button up, too! There are lots of summer jeans outfits that you can get out of white barrel jeans.

Barrel Jeans And A Flowy Top
I saw this 100 percent cotton top in the Hill House store when we visited Nantucket. I was so distracted by all the gorgeous dresses that I forgot to go back and try on this shirt, which I’m so disappointed by! Anyway, this top is just so cute and lightweight, so it’s perfect to wear in warm weather with jeans. These sunglasses are the perfect on-trend silhouette that aren’t going out of style anytime soon. I love how they give a 90s vibe. You can see them on me in the tortoise color here, but I’m getting the chocolate brown that I styled with this outfit below. I also tried on these shoes, and they’re like walking on a cloud!

Lightweight Drawstring Jeans For Under $60
This is what I think of when I think of summer outfits with jeans. I absolutely love this outfit and think it is so practical, but also very chic! While these lightweight wide leg jeans have a drawstring waist, the top and accessories give it an elevated look. It still feels polished! Wear this outfit to brunch or on vacation. These jeans also come in a light blue denim and white. These jeans are literally called summerweight jeans, so you know they’re perfect for warm weather. I love that they’re 100 percent cotton.

Simple And Reliable Jeans And A T-Shirt
Is there any more reliable outfit on the weekend than jeans and a t-shirt? I can’t think of one. I own these jeans in a lightweight option too, which I talked about earlier in this post. I love to layer necklaces and add more jewelry with this type of outfit since it’s so simple.

Jeans With A Linen Blazer
I wear this type of outfit a lot in the summer when I need a lightweight layer for dinner, whether we’re eating inside or sitting outside.
